Highway Truck Driver/Equipment Operator/Laborer

DUTIES: 

  • Follow Highway Superintendent’s oral and written order of direction
  • Physical labor in snow and ice control, street & bridge repair and construction, street maintenance, drainage work, building maintenance, equipment repair and maintenance, and other related projects
  • Operate truck with plow and sander for snow and ice control
  • Operate a variety of heavy and light motorized construction equipment and vehicles such as backhoe, front-end loader, grader, and other related equipment
  • Respond to emergency situations including snow and ice control, assist in the repair of water and sewer line failures, tree removal and other emergency work as requested by Superintendent

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED
  • Prior experience working with heavy equipment and road construction/maintenance
  • Possession of a valid Massachusetts Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Possession of 2B or higher and 4G Hoisting Engineer’s licenses within 6 months of hire
  • Must submit to drug & alcohol testing per DOT and FMSCA guidelines
  • A pre-employment physical is required, and a current DOT medical card must be maintained during employment
  • An acceptable criminal history check (CORI) and clean driving record are required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

SALARY: 

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • $25.68 per hour without Hoisting Engineer licenses
  • $27.18 per hour with Hoisting Engineer licenses
  • Benefits include paid vacation, sick, and personal time off and health insurance
